Thats a bit harsh I feel Keith! Granted Bob Overment is a good OOD but you cant just single out the efforts of one person unless you want to alienate yourself from the club as i think we all pull together to make a good complete evenings racing. Lets not forget a lot of the success or failure of completing all 3 heats is down to us drivers!! If drivers fall out, breakdown or collect turn bouys then we won't get 3 heats no matter who's in charge that night!!

Don't ever remember a cancelled race or short meeting when Bob Overment was OOD even got scrambles in, but he always makes sure the next class are ready and makes quick decisions if incidents do occur, think its called organisation.

It makes a change to see a 'practice night' at the start of the season making a comeback, it brings back memories from years ago when this used to happen. It will give the handicappers a good chance to see what everybody's lap times are and to get the handicaps worked out before the race meetings start. I think brian is right about starting on time at the race meetings as this has been a problem for a while now, it can be done if everybody pulls together and if we all stay positive it will be a good season. See you all soon.

Will the lap times on the practice night be used for the computer handicaps the following week?

If so then they should also qualify to be used for lap records if anyone is that fast!

The first meeting of the season on Oulton Broad will be on April 17th starting at 6pm. This will be a practice night, with all sections getting hopefully 3 sessions on the water. The tractor will be manned for prop changing etc. All laps will be timed and your times and lap number will be printed out for your reference, good testing time for the national.

Club championship race nights start on April 24th the only one before the national on May 4th and 5th. We struggle for light this early in the year, but we have some ideas to make sure we get 3 heats in each, bear with us on this for 1 week ....and please dont cause a race stoppage guys.

The timing team have been giving the computer driven handicapping system dry runs on last years lap times, and we are very pleased with the results so far.

We also have a new hi tec starting system with lights instead of boards again all computer driven which will be easier to read from the top of the broad.

Ray Read the new sportsboat rep has found a permanant tractor driver for launching early on Thursday for race and rescue, so if you are scrutinised, prepared and ready to go please get launched and drive slowly to the club house. Remember "tractor man" has ultimate control over launching and recovery, one man we cant afford to lose, so treat him kindly !!

We must as a club get started on time this year and get all the heats in for all classes, value for money for drivers and spectators, our biggest failing of 2007 when several things seemed to conspire against us and we all found it very frustrating.

We think the changes we have worked very hard on during the winter months will help us acheive this end and 2008 will be the best ever.

ALL the information regarding handicapping, timing, new starting system, points total, etc will be given to drivers at the pre season forum. The date and time to be anounced nearer the date by the race sec, please attend if at all possible.

I think Paul V has some very interesting things going through that head of his!!! maybe medicals should cover the effect of inhaling other boats exhaust fumes!! (this will only effect drivers like Paul who sit behind the main pack):-)

And for more important news! those who new we were at Crufts yesterday, and who are remotely interested, yes we did have a huge win!
