Classes

Circuit powerboat racing is divided into 3 main categories, which are further sub-divided into classes based on engine capacity. In addition to these, there is a further division for inboard powered craft.

 

Racing Outboards 'O' Series

The prefix 'O' denotes an open class. This means there are very few restrictions regarding hull design, engine tuning and the type of fuel used.

Sports Outboards 'S' Series

The prefix 'S' denotes a sportsboat class. These have similar capacity limits to the 'O' series, but engines must be standard production types.
